John Paul Lovell, of Groveton, Texas, formerly of Whitney, Texas was born on May 29, 1941, to Jessie D Lovell and Edna (McElfresh) Lovell in Whitney, Texas and passed away peacefully to his eternal home in heaven on December 2, 2021, at the age of 80 years in Groveton, Texas.
John Paul served in the United States Army and then transferred into the United States Army Reserves. He worked in fabrication for many years after being deployed to the reserves. Paul worked very hard to provide for his family. He loved spending time with his family and friends, working with horses, being outdoors and going fishing, especially saltwater fishing. He also loved sports, especially football. He avidly enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and he often told his family how much it brought back memories to his high school football career.
John Paul is survived by his loving caregiver, Joyce Curry; children: daughter, Elizabeth Fleenor and husband, Clay Fleenor; daughter, Carrie Lovell; daughter, Carol Tisdale and husband Andy Tisdale, and daughter, Michelle Hayes and husband, Mike Hayes; grandchildren: Dakota Lamb and husband, Cody Lamb, Colton Henson and wife, Megan Henson, Triston Fleenor, Lucretia Hibbard, Kenneth Hayes, Summer Hayes, Paul Clemons and wife, Juliana; great grandchildren: Kaitlyn Lamb, Katrina Henson, Glyn Hibbard, Kylie Clemons, Lucas Clemons, Lily House, and Viktor House; sisters: Wanda Fae Standsbury, Juanita Walls, and Nevada Joyce Armstrong; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, also survive.
Mr. Lovell is preceded in death by his father, Jessie Lovell; mother, Edna Lovell; sisters: Edith Howard, Virgie Burnet, and Bernice Walker; brothers: Robert Lovell, Terry Lovell, Wilford Lovell, and Milford Lovell.
The family will welcome visitors beginning Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at 5 PM until 7 PM at Groveton Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at 11 AM in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, Texas with Bro. Michael Madden officiating. Burial will follow in Boonetowne Cemetery.
