Joel Henry Shaw was born on December 3, 1937 in Groveton, TX, the son of Herbert and Etta Mae Shaw and passed away peacefully on April 6, 2018 in Lufkin, TX.

Mr. Shaw was an extremely hard worker.  He owned and operated Shaw Butane for numerous years until his retirement.  He and his wife enjoyed being out in the country.  He loved working cattle and spending time with his wife Janet until the cattle became to be too much for them.  They loved to raise pet squirrels and watch them in their own surroundings.  JH also loved to travel and go to the casinos.  He always enjoyed a good game.  He also loved to read and learn more about history.  He could share a lot of knowledge from his findings.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Groveton Funeral Home.  Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Groveton Funeral Home with Bro. Lewis Jones officiating.  Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery in Groveton, TX.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Etta Mae Shaw; 3 brothers, Herbert Lee Shaw Jr., Bob Wendell Shaw, and Larry Shaw; granddaughter, Cheyenne Shaw; grandson, Dustin Ballard.  His survivors include his loving wife: Janet Shaw of Groveton, TX; his children: sons, Ricky D. Shaw and wife , Brenda Kay of Evadale, TX, F.L. Shaw and wife Genny of Redhill, TX; daughter, Cindy Joe White and husband, Darron of Maud, TX; stepchildren: K. Kile, Tim Goodman, Mitzi Clark; numerous grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, along with other relatives and friends also, survive.
