Jo Ann (Self) Pillows
Jo Ann (Self) Pillows, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024, at the age of eighty-two. Jo Ann was born on October 3, 1942, in Center, Texas to Leonie Self.
Jo Ann was known for her unwavering kindness, her dedication to her family, and her passion for music. She loved listening to classic gospel, anything by Elvis and she especially enjoyed classic country music on Willie's Roadhouse on Sirus XM radio. Throughout her life, she was a pillar of strength for those around her, providing love, guidance, and joy to everyone she met. She worked for Southwestern Bell telecommunications for numerous years. But her primary joy was being a mother. She loved spending time with her family, especially her precious grandchildren.
Jo Ann grew up in Louisiana for most of her childhood. She attended and graduated high school from Mt. Carmel High School in Florien, Louisiana Class of 1961. Later she met the love of her life, Joseph Gleathon Pillows and they were married October 19, 1963.
She is survived by her daughter, Marta Fay and husband, Kalvin Fay; son, Matt Pillows; grandchildren:  Marta Ann and Justin Davis, Courtney Linton, and Ty Havard; great grandchildren, Aella Joann Davis and Atlas Michael Davis; brothers-in-law: Garth Pillows and Kenny Lewing; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Joseph Gleathon Pillows; mother, Leonie Richards; father, Elmer Ross Richards; siblings: Doris Mott, James Richards, Levinnie Duncan, A.G. Self, Betty Lewing, Red Richards, Faye Miller, Tommy Richards and J.B. Richards.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Bennett Cemetery beginning at 1:00 P.M. Graveside services to celebrate Jo Ann's life will begin afterwards at 2:00 P.M. with interment to follow at Bennett Cemetery with Jo Ann's nephew William Jones officiating.
Jo Ann's warmth, wisdom, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
