Obituary

Jimmy Lee "Bull" Brister, age 65, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 15, 2013, in Lufkin, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 19, at Groveton Funeral Home with interment to follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Apple Springs, Texas. He will be escorted to his final resting place by his pallbearers, James Cody Wars, Michael Wars, Jake Zoller, Kyle Brister, Andrew Brister, B.J. Baldree, Jerel Jacobs, Billy Brister and Glen Brister. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of his Oil Field Family. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm – 8:00 pm, Wednesday, December 18, at Groveton Funeral Home, Groveton, Texas.

"Bull" was born April 17, 1948, in Nacogdoches, Texas to Oscar and Callie Doris (McDougald) Brister. He graduated from high school and then attended and graduated from SFA. He worked in the oil field for many years and was married to the love of his life, Shirley Brister. They lived a happy life together in the Apple Springs Community for numerous years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Callie Doris Brister; two brothers, Billy Mac Brister and Ronald Brister. "Bull" leaves behind his wife, Shirley Brister, of Apple Springs, Texas; son, Justin Brister, of Apple Springs, Texas; daughter, Jessica Brister and fiancé, Jay Blackburn, of Lufkin, Texas; son, Ron Zoller and fiancé, Sandy Maliszewski, of Caseyville, Illinois; daughter, Cindy Foster and husband, Dennis, of Beaverton, Oregon; daughter, Bracy Wars and husband, David, of Groveton, Texas; grandchildren, Austin and Brook Brister, Scarlet (Sasparilla) Blackburn, Jake and Kylie Zoller, Adrienne and Braden Foster, Michael Wars, James Cody Wars and wife, Tory; brothers and sisters, James Larry Brister and wife, Jean, of Iola, Texas, Patsy White and husband, George, of Apple Springs, Texas, Scott Brister and wife, Stacy, of Apple Springs, Texas, Omer Brister, and wife, Brenda, of Apple Springs, Texas, Susan Jacobs, and husband, James, of New Caney, Texas and Michael Brister and wife, Mary Jo, of Groveton, Texas; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, also survive.
