Jill Christine Hord, 48 of Groveton, Texas was called home to be with our Lord April 25, 2017 after her courageous battle with cancer. Jill was a loving mother, daughter, sister and a great friend to many.  She loved her baby boy River Hord Shirley. He was ultimately the light of her life.  She also enjoyed creating jewelry.  She was a graduate of Sam Houston State University where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice.  Jill was a member of the highway 94 Church of Christ.

Visitation will be held at Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, Texas on Thursday, April 27, 2017 beginning at 10:30 a.m. until service time at 12:00 p.m.  Funeral Services will begin at 12:00 p.m. in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home with Brother Neil Kemper officiating and Brother Rodney Langley assisting.  Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery in Groveton, Texas.

Jill is preceded in death by her grandparents Newton and Jane Hord and Charles and Maxine Martin.  Her survivors include her loving son River Hord Shirley; her parents James and Judy Hord; sister Janet Bethea and brother Jeffrey Hord; all of Groveton, Texas.  Numerous other relatives and many friends also survive.
