Janet Walker Shaw                                                                                                      June 25, 1935 -June 4, 2023
Janet Walker Shaw was born June 25, 1935, in Colorado Springs, Colorado to parents, Earl Thomas Walker and Nettie (White) Walker. She peacefully returned to her heavenly home Sunday, June 4, 2023, at the age of eighty-seven years.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Joel Shaw in 2018; parents, Earl and Nettie Walker; grandsons, Cheyenne Shaw, and Dustan Ballard; sisters, Earlene Wright, and Marie Watson; brother, Travis Walker.
Mrs. Shaw is survived by her loving children: daughter, Kay Kile of Groveton, TX; daughter, Cindy White and husband, Darron White of Maude, TX; daughter, Mitzi Clark of Groveton, TX; son, Timmy Goodman and wife, Geneva Goodman of Winsboro, TX; grandchildren: Micah Johnson and wife, Melissa, Crystal Goodman, Jesse Goodman, Bill, Wesley and Jeffrey Earnest, Cody White, Logan Boyett, Jodi Stout, Mary Dellinger, Ashley McClain, and John Shaw and wife, Christina; twenty-one great grandchildren; sister, Joy Clement of Alvin, TX; sister, Lee Linam of Tulsa, OK;  and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends also survive.
Janet worked for many years in Groveton at Shaw Butane.  She was originally from Colorado and her family moved to Sulphur Springs, Texas where she was a graduate of Sulphur Springs High School Class of 1953.  Janet met her husband, Joel, through a single's ad later in life and they wrote letters to one another regularly.  She moved to Groveton in 1990 when she met and fell in love with Mr. Shaw, and they were married in 1991.  Janet loved being active. She enjoyed playing sports where she played basketball, softball, and water volleyball.  Mrs. Shaw was extremely competitive, but she was also her children's biggest cheerleader. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, dancing, especially to country music or Elvis, planting roses and cactus gardens.  She also loved animals and helping to take care of the cattle on their ranch.  Mrs. Shaw loved Groveton and being at her home.  She loved the Lord and was raised attending church services with her family in the Church of Christ.
Visitation for Mrs. Janet Shaw will begin Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, Texas.  Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 11, 2023, at 2:00p.m. at Groveton Funeral Home with Bro. Keith Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery in Groveton, TX.
