James Ernest Wooten (Jimmy), 79, of Groveton, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at his residence.

James was a native of Port Neches where he lived most of his life until retirement. He graduated from Port Neches High School in 1958. He received an associate degree from Tyler Junior College in 1960 and a bachelor's degree from Lamar University in 1962. Jimmy went on to have a successful thirty-five-year career as a stockbroker with EF Hutton/ Smith Barney/ Morgan Stanley.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Wooten of Groveton, son and wife, James E. Wooten Jr., and Miranda of Groveton; Grandchildren, Ashley Leger, Macy Sourdellia, Lynsey Pruitt, husband Jackson, Taylor Sourdellia, Lezlea Howell and Matthew Howell; Great grandchildren, Kaisley Grace and Jasper Pruitt. Sister in law; Linda Blount. Brother in Law; David Edgar, Cousin; Gwen Park as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter; Jill Denise Wooten and parents; Shelby & Eva Wooten and Jack and Dorothy Dornes and mother and father in law; Wayne and Lois Edgar. Pall Bearers are Chad Edgar, Charles Edgar, Kit Carson, Gary McElduff, Jackson Pruitt and Matthew Howell.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Groveton Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday at Groveton Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Trinity County Fair Association for Trinity County Fair Youth project add~ons for their project sales.
