James "Buddy" Ray Stricklin of Apple Springs, Texas was born on September 3,1940 in Gladewater, TX to the late James Henry and Mattie (Chamblee) Stricklin and went to his eternal home on March 27,2021 at the age of 80 years in Lufkin,TX.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling and playing dominoes. Buddy was also a member of the Apple Springs Baptist Church where he attended faithfully until Covid stopped everyone from meeting. He was also a member of the Groveton OES #1035, Groveton Masonic Lodge 284 AM&FM, and Richardson Masonic Lodge #1214.

Mr. Stricklin is survived by his loving wife of almost 56 years, Mary Lynn (Turner) Stricklin of Apple Springs; son, David Stricklin and wife, Jennifer of Palestine, TX; son, Jason Stricklin and wife, Melissa of Tennessee Colony, TX; son, Roy Sandifer of Houston, TX; five grandchildren: Tyler Stricklin and wife, Tabitha of Dallas, TX, Tara Stricklin of Palestine, TX and Alex, Jaxson, and Skyler Stricklin all of Tennessee Colony, TX and a host of nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends also survive.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Mattie Stricklin; siblings: Doris Stricklin, Betsy Lewis, Jerry Honeycut, Tommy Stricklin, and Gwanda Minchew.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, TX. Funeral service for Mr. Stricklin will begin Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Groveton Funeral Home with Bro. Lewis Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Bennett Cemetery.
