James Dolphs Elmore, Sr., 85, of Bacliff, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026. He was born July 14, 1940, in Houston, Texas, to Joseph Debbs Elmore and Bobbie Lorene (Harding) Elmore.
James answered the call of duty and proudly served his country in the United States Navy, receiving an honorable discharge in Houston, Texas, in 1957. Following his service, he made his home in Bastrop, Louisiana, where he built a life alongside his beloved wife, Annie Mae Elmore, and devoted himself to raising his family.
A hardworking man of principle, James spent much of his career as a machinist, taking pride in his craft and the life it provided for those he loved. Yet it was family — always family — that stood at the center of his world. In retirement, he cherished every moment spent with his precious grandchildren. Whether watching sports, scratching lottery tickets with hopeful anticipation, or quietly reading his Bible, James lived with a simple and steadfast joy.
He was a man of deep faith, enduring love, and quiet strength — and the mark he leaves on all who knew him is immeasurable.

James is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Debbs Elmore; his mother, Bobbie Lorene Elmore; his beloved wife, Annie Mae Elmore; his sister, Bobbie Jo Elmore; and three cherished grandchildren, Jaime Helen Lea Elmore, Krystal Padron, and Frankie Douglas Warren, Jr.
He is survived by his children, Debra Warren, James Elmore, Jr., and Pamela Croft; his brothers, Raymond Elmore and Gerald Elmore; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of relatives and friends who will carry his memory forward with love.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Apple Springs, Texas.
