Iva Christine Howard, 87 of Groveton, Texas was called home to be with our Lord April 10, 2017. Iva was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and a great friend.   She loved her children and especially her grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren. She was head of the youth department of Uvalde Baptist Church where she was a member, for many years and belonged to the Women's Mission of the church. She also sang in the choir. Iva also worked with the Little League Baseball and worked in the school when the children were growing up. She grew up in Bentley, Oklahoma in Atoka County and moved to Houston when she married. Later in life they moved to the Groveton area.

Visitation will be held at Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, Texas on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 beginning at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday April 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home with Brother Lewis Jones officiating.  Burial will follow in Pennington Cemetery in Pennington, Texas.

Christine is preceded in death by her husband Charles Howard; son Roddy Howard; daughter Betty Howar Gerson; parents William and Iva Leuty; brothers: Lester Leuty, O.P. Leuty, George Leuty and Cecil Leuty; sisters:  Vivian Tomlinson, Kathryn Elliot and Helen Hall.

Mrs.  Howard is survived by her children: two daughters Linda Blackstock and husband Blackie and Wanda Howard and two sons Darrell Howard and wife Kim and Joshua Howard and wife.Misty; grandchildren: Buddy Blackstock and wife Belinda, Lisa Oquinn  and husband Wayne, Michael Maynard, Kristen Howard, Ethen Richardson, Landon Howard, Rachel Moser and husband Damien, Sarah Morrison, Austin Huff, Tyler Huff, Victoria Huff and Ashton Moser; great grandchildren: Coty Blackstock  and wife Jenny, Brittany Blackstock , Makayla Blackstock, Brady Blackstock, Kasi Bartsch, Melanie Bartsch, Tyler Engeling, Avery Shielle, Julie Morrison, Luke Morrison, Caleb Morrison, great-great grandchildren: Blake Engeling and Branson Blackstock and a host of other relatives and many friends.
