A Celebration of Life Service for Hazel M. Mericle, 88 of Groveton will be held at 11:00 am., Friday, January 29 at the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, Texas. Brother Rodney Langley and Brother Neil Kemper will officiate the service. Burial will follow the services in Sumpter Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Friday from 10:00 am until service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that memorials be made to Groveton Ex Students or to the charity of your choice. The family would also like to make a special thank you to the staff of Groveton Nursing Home for their loving care.

Hazel was born on November 11th, 1927 in Trinity County, Texas to Ernest and Lottie Benge. God called Mrs. Mericle home on January 24, 2016.
For many years Mrs. Mericle worked as a clerk in the Woodlake Post Office. She also worked for Western Auto for a few years. Hazel worked in her home to provide for her family because she was above all else a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest F. and Lottie O. Benge; her mom, Annie Benge; husband, Pat Neff Mericle and a son, Kenneth A. Mericle.
Mrs. Mericle is survived by her children: daughter, Patsy Peterson of Etoile, sons, William G. Mericle and wife, Dale and Alton L. Mericle and wife, Martha both of Groveton. Survivors also include seven grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
