Obituary

Geraldine Avant Riley, age 68, of Groveton, completed her earthly journey and went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 12, 2014 in Lufkin, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the Bennett Cemetery with Bro. Lee officiating.

Geraldine was born on October 17, 1945 to her parents, Joseph and Mary Davis Avant in Panola County, Mississippi. She loved the Lord and helped to serve the church in many capacities as a Full Gospel Pastor's wife. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was very much a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Ray Riley; parents, brother, James Alton Avant; sisters, Betty Jo Coleman, Beverly Jean Davis and Brenda Avant. Her survivors include her two sons, Johnny Livingston Riley and wife, Sheryl, of Groveton, Texas and Lonny Ray Riley and wife, Julie, of Pt. Neches-Groves, Texas; sister, Pat Cade, of Water Valley, Mississippi; brother, Clinton Avant, of Water Valley, Mississippi; brother, Billy Avant and wife, Mildred, of Water Valley, Mississippi; sister, Nina Pendelton and husband, Vidas, of Indiana; sister, Patsy Waldo and husband, Dennis, of Indiana; sister, Linda Richards and husband, Marshall, of Hallsville, Texas; sister, Tommie Foster, of Indiana; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Glenn Charles Riley and Frances Lee Riley, both, of Sour Lake, Texas; grandchildren, Caleb Riley and wife, Christy, of Groveton, Texas, Morgan Taylor and husband, Zach, of Groveton, Texas, Kristena Riley, of Onalaska, Texas, Austin Riley and Joshua Riley, both, of Tomball, Texas and Isabella Riley Ortego, of Dayton, Texas; seven great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends, also survive.
