Gary Layne Stewart was born on February 16, 1954 in Abilene, TX, the son of Charlie and Anna Stewart and passed away peacefully on April 6, 2018.

Layne was an extremely hard worker.  He loved being outdoors and working the cattle on their family ranch.  He was active within the Area Trinity County Farm Bureau Ag in the classroom.  He enjoyed helping to teach the youth about how agriculture applied to everyday living.  He loved the Lord and belonged to Oaklawn Baptist Church in Groveton, TX.  He participated as the secretary for the Sunday School Classes and helped with many other facets through the church.  In his spare time, he enjoyed attending motorcycle races.  He loved the adrenalin rush from all the excitement.  He was a loving father, son and grandfather who will be missed dearly.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Groveton Funeral Home.  Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Oaklawn Baptist Church with Bro. Lester McAdams officiating.  Interment will follow in Bennett Cemetery in Apple Springs, TX.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Anna Layne Stewart.  His survivors include his son, Dustin Stewart and wife, Lacy Stewart of Springfield, MO; father, Charlie Stewart of Groveton, TX; grandchildren, Dottie Bea and Plyce Stewart of Springfield, MO; uncle, Steve Stewart and wife, Sally Stewart and a host of other relatives and friends also, survive.
