Florine
Puntch
Mar 23, 1926 — May 14, 2026
Magnolia
Florine Collins Nash Puntch, one hundred, of Magnolia, Texas, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Thursday, May 14, 2026. She spent her last days surrounded by her devoted children and family, to whom she had given so much of her life.
Born on March 23, 1926, in Flat Prairie, Texas, to Sam and Maud (Eaves) Collins, Florine lived a long life defined by devotion to family and faith. She graduated high school in Groveton, Texas and was one of twelve children — a fact that was apparent in the lavish meals she prepared for her family well into her nineties.
She loved to put her hands to work for those she loved, whether that was pouring tea for guests or spending hours meticulously stitching quilts for each of the many babies in her family, including those who had not yet been born. She was an avid storyteller with a steel-trap mind who lives on in the many memories she made and passed on to her extensive family. She had a profound sense of humor, loved to laugh, and was full of vigor even in her final years — even in her nineties, she would avoid taking pain medicines, wanting to make sure they would still work "when she was older."
Florine was a member of Glad Tidings Church in Huffman, Texas for 25 years before transferring her membership to Miracle City Church in Conroe.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Maud Collins; her first husband, Burl Nash, and her second husband, John Puntch; her siblings, William Elias Collins, Clayton Collins, Thelma Collins, Roy Collins, James Cleo Collins, Lucille Blair, Earline Brasheir, Zerom John Collins, and Infant Minnie Bell Collins; her daughter, Linda Bass; grandson, Joe Bass.
She is survived by her son, Burl Nash, Jr., and wife Patty of Groveton; her daughter, Brenda Howard and husband Audie of Magnolia; her son-in-law, Sam Bass of Dripping Springs; her grandchildren, David Matthews, Taryn Nash and husband Francisco, Jesse Nash and wife Lauren, Mindi Bass, Brandi Dathe and husband, Chuck; her brother, Judge Collins; her sister, Effie Burton; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The family will hold services at Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, Texas on Tuesday, May 19, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. and the service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery in Apple Springs, Texas.
