Florine Hamilton of Bedias, TX left her earthly home entering the pearly gates and walking the streets of gold on March 14, 2024. She was born March 12, 1933, in Glendale, TX and lived most of her life in Groveton. Her parent were William Morrow (W.M.) Johnson and Edna Catherine Skains Johnson. Florine graduated from Groveton High School in 1950. After graduation she attended East Texas Baptist College in Marshall earning a bachelor's degree in education in 1954. After college and returning to Groveton, she met and married the love of her life, P.D. Hamilton, on August 26, 1954. Mom said many times she could still remember how handsome he was in his blue suit. They were married for 62 and ½ years. After marriage they move to Shepherd where she began her teaching career before moving back to Groveton in 1962. She taught Groveton for 24 years until her retirement in 1989, totaling a career of 31 years in education. Most of her teaching career was devoted to molding the lives of 3rd graders. Mom was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her family and especially those great grands. Most importantly she loved the Lord and could always be found reading and studying the Bible. Mom was a faithful member of Highway 94 Church of Christ for many years before moving to Bedias in 2015. After moving she continued to worship and attend services at Bedias Church of Christ until her health no longer allowed her to go. Her hobbies included gardening and traveling. She liked to prepare and eat fresh vegetables from her garden and always enjoyed beautiful flowers in her yard. Mom and Dad made a point of taking their children on many vacations to see the United States and continued to travel after retirement.

Florine is preceded in death by her husband, P.D. Hamilton; her parents, W.M. and Edna Johnson; and grandson Nathan Troy Price. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Hamilton Price and husband Troy of Bedias; son Don Hamilton and wife Revette of Groveton; grandchildren Justin Price and wife Whitney of Bedias; Whitney Hamilton of Groveton; Clint Hamilton and wife Payton of Douglass; Amber Starr and husband John of Madisonville; Mike Price and wife Delisa of Huntsville; 9 great grandchildren and one on the way - Layton, Kayleigh, Kenleigh and Layne Starr; Hoyt Hamilton; Jace and Reed Price; and Josie and True Price. She is also survived by her sister Frances Skeels and husband Lyle of Tyler; brother in law Joe Ned Dean of Groveton and sister in law Enda Jackson of New Braunfels.

Friends and family are cordially invited to visitation from 6 pm until 8 pm on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home. Celebration of life service will be held on Sunday March 17, 2024 at 2 pm at Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home with Rev Lyle Skeels officiating. Burial to follow at Bennett Cemetery in Apple Springs, TX.
