Fannie Maude Steed Walton, 86 years, of Groveton passed away peacefully on November 21, 2017 in Lufkin, Texas. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, Texas with Bro. Rodney Langley officiating and Bro. Lewis Jones assisting. Burial will follow in Bennett Cemetery in Apple Springs, Texas. Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Groveton Funeral Home.
Fannie Maude was born October 22, 1931 in Kennard, Texas the daughter of Harvey Bird Steed and Carrie (McCombs) Steed. She graduated from Kennard High School in 1949 and went on to attend Elliott Business School in Houston, Texas and graduated in 1950. Fannie married the love of her life T.P. Walton, Jr. on November 2, 1950 and they lived in Trinity County. Mrs. Walton was a member of Kennard Baptist Church, Antioch Church of Christ and currently attending Highway 94 Church of Christ in Groveton for the past 57 years. She and Mr. T.P. Walton, Jr. were the owners of Walton Construction Company of Groveton, Texas. Fannie worked for 18 years as a cashier at One Stop Grocery in Groveton. She also was elected to the Kennard School Hall of Fame in 2002. She was a member of the Groveton Reading Club and the Groveton Beta Sigma Phi. Her hobbies were her ceramics, square dancing, china painting, and her rose garden along with her yard. She also loved to travel and to see new places.
Mrs. Walton is preceded in death by her husband, T.P. Walton, Jr.; parents, Harvey and Carrie Steed of Ratcliff, Texas and her sisters, Billie Steed Keenum of Houston, Texas and Marie Steed Adair of Oakland, California.
Mrs. Walton is survived by her only child, son Tommy Lee Walton of Groveton, Texas; as well her many beloved nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
Memorials are to be made to Highway 94 Church of Christ of Groveton Texas or to the church of your choice or to the American Diabetic Association.
