Rev. Everett Walker McCollum 82, was born June 27, 1935 to Fred Faxton and Leota Bertha (Dunaway) McCollum. God called Mr. McCollum home on Tuesday, February 20, 2018.
Rev. McCollum loved the Lord. He was called to be a minister at a young age and always enjoyed sharing the word of God. He was a past preacher of both First United Methodist Church of Groveton and Trinity. When he and his wife resided in Groveton he was a volunteer fireman at the Volunteer Fire Department and they both were Emergency Care Attendants with the Ambulance service. Everett loved spending time with his family, woodworking and going fishing. He was also involved in Lion's Club and Kiwanis.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Trinity with Rev. Jim McConnell officiating. Burial will follow at Chita Cemetery. Visitation will be held beginning at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Groveton Funeral Home.
Memorial Contributions are to be made to Partners in Mission or Hospice in the Pines.
Rev. McCollum is preceded in death by his father, Fred Faxton McCollum and his mother, Leota Bertha (Dunaway) McCollum.
His survivors include his loving wife of almost 61years, Lorene McCollum of Sebastopol; two daughters, Penny Thornton and husband Lamar Thornton of Chita and Ginger Gage and husband, Terry Gage of Henderson; son, Richard McCollum and wife, Colinda of Silsbee; grandchildren: Lynn Kirkland, Lorianne Morris, April Ward, Blair Williams, Dustin McCollum, Tyler McCollum, Ashley Bowman, Michael Prince, Jr., Chad Prince; great grandchildren; Kolby Kirkland, Cassie Elizondo, Ty Kirkland, Clayton Kirkland, Avery Morris, Major Morris, Carter Williams, Tanner Prince, Nickolas Bowman, and Ariel Bowman; great-great grandchild, Kenlynn Kirkland and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.
Pallbearers: Johnny Howell, Adam Tyler, Kolby Kirkland, Michael Ward, Blair Williams James Bowman and Dustin McCollum.
Honorary Pallbearers: Ronnie Tyler, Rusty Howell and Julian Weslow.
