Eugene Franklin Smith, II, 20, of Onalaska passed away on March 17, 2015. The family will receive visitors from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Groveton Funeral Home with Bro. Lewis Jones officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Thornton Cemetery.

Eugene was born March 22, 1994 in Lufkin, Texas. He worked as a correctional officer for Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He is survived by his father, Eugene Franklin Smith, of Onalaska; mother, Emily Ashton and step-father, Craig, of Tyler; sister, Tamara Smith, of Lubbock; grandmothers, Audrey Caffery, of Onalaska and Charlotte Jones and grandfather, Sam, of Trinity; aunt, Trudy Kennedy, of Onalaska; uncle, Daniel Reid and wife, Vickie, of Lago Vista; uncle, Chris Crews and wife, Tori, of Jamaica Beach Galveston; numerous other relatives and friends, also survive.
