Obituary

Funeral services for Estella E. DeLaFosse, 87, of Lufkin, Texas, will be held Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home with Pastor Elton Musick officiating. Interment will follow in Chita Cemetery in Chita, Texas. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday, October 4, 2013 at Groveton Funeral Home.

Mrs. DeLaFosse was born on October 13, 1926 in Sacramento, California to the late William and Eva (Renfro) Mathews and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 28, 2014 in Lufkin, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emmett DeLaFosse; sister, Priscilla Spradley; two brothers, Edmond Mathews and Horace Mathews and two grandchildren, Vicki Frankens and Harold "Bubba" Byron.

Estella was married to her loving husband for nearly seventy years and they spent most of their lives together in Lufkin. She worked with her husband as his seamstress for their family business for many years. She loved her family and enjoyed being a homemaker so that she was able to spend adequate time with everyone. She attended church at Grace Baptist Church in Lufkin and was a faithful member for as long as she was able to attend. She also had a love for going to estate sales and she became an avid collector of many prized treasures. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her four children; daughter, Laura Denman of Kennard, Texas; son, Emmett Allen DeLaFosse and wife, Doreen of San Dimas, California; daughter, LaNiece Byron of Corrigan, Texas; daughter, Tommye Wright of Corrigan; eleven grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; seventeen great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
