Emily Elizabeth (Lee) Carter, of Groveton, TX passed away peacefully to her eternal home in heaven on February 3, 2022 at the age of 92 years. She was born on March 12,1929 to James William Lee and Zola Edmondson Wyatt Lee in Memphis, Tennessee.
Emily began her teaching career as a teacher's aide in Walnut Ridge, Ak under the tutelage of her mother before graduating from Walnut Ridge High School. She attended Arkansas State University in 1950. Emily had her first child, Edward, in 1951, and her second son, Chuck, arrived in 1953. Emily ended her 33 years in the classroom at the Galena Park School District. Emily has always been very active in the Methodist Church where she worked endlessly furthering God's Kingdom here on earth while also enjoying the fellowship of good Christian people. She taught Sunday school classes, worked with the Cub and Boy Scouts, supported FFA,4H groups, and Volunteer Fire Departments, and participated in many community activities. She also really enjoyed catering, baking cakes, and antiquing.
Emily is survived by her loving son: Charles Bond "Chuck" Carter Jr.; sister: Edna Ruth Lee Trotter, sister-in-law: Sarah Bennett Lee; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives, and friends also survive.
Emily is preceded in death by her parents: James William and Zola Edmondson Wyatt Lee; loving husband: Charles Bond Carter of 63 years; son: Charles Edward Carter; brothers: John Newton Wyatt and wife, Marie Ivins Wyatt, Tom Wylie Wyatt and wife, Margie Jones Wyatt, Robert Wesley Wyatt and wife, Doris Fender Wyatt; Charles William "Buck" Lee.
The family will welcome visitors beginning, Monday, February 7, 2022, from 10:00 am until service time at 11:00 am at the Cartwright Memorial Chapel at the Groveton Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Bennett Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Hastings officiating. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Charity of your choice. A reception will follow in the Edward Carter Hall at the Groveton United Methodist Church.
