Elwood Drinkard's Obituary
Elwood Drinkard, age 75, of Groveton, Texas, completed his earthly journey and went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 3, 2014. Visitation will be held from 6:00PM-8:00PM on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Groveton Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, January 6, 2014 in Pennington Cemetery with Pastor Bob Harbuck officiating.
Elwood was a wonderful man who loved his family and cherished spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed many years with his co-workers, working at Houston County Grain in Crockett, Texas and later went to Champion International in Corrigan, Texas. He worked there for twenty years until his health had started to fail. He loved relaxing in his recliner, sitting on the patio or under an old oak tree (that he and his wife planted) and working in the garden. He loved his dogs, chickens and two little gennies (donkeys). He was a wonderful husband, great dad, amazing paw-paw and a friend to so many. He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cyrus and Daisy Drinkard and a brother, Cyrus Eugene Drinkard. Elwood leaves behind his legacy to his wife, Mary Sue (Fannin) Drinkard, of Groveton, Texas; his four children, Elmer Lee Drinkard, of Corrigan, Texas, Mary Jewel Drinkard, Ellwood Drinkard, Jr., Susie Hammond and husband, Glenn, all of Groveton, Texas; brothers, Charles E. Drinkard, of Crockett, Texas and Freddy O. Drinkard, of Madisonville, Texas; daughter-in-law, Emerita Molina and husband Juan, of Groveton, Texas; grandchildren, Elmer Lee Drinkard, Jr. and wife, Sandy of Galveston, Texas, Daisy Drinkard and fiancé, Wayne Brumley, of Lufkin, Texas, Justin Hammond and wife, Kaleena, of Groveton, Texas, Jamie Lee Drinkard, of Trinity, Texas, Sidney Hammond, of College Station, Texas, Anthony Molina, of Groveton, Texas; great grandchildren, Kyle Isgett and Chase Isgett, of Galveston, Texas, Kasey Drinkard, of Groveton, Texas; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, also survive.
