Funeral services for Edith Marie Raiford, age 78, of Groveton, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 18, in the First Baptist Church in Groveton with Brother Stanley Allen and Brother Randy Newberry officiating. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will begin receiving visitors from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, at Groveton Funeral Home.
Edith was born on June 26, 1937 in Apple Springs to the late Burbon and Velma Jones and passed away August 15, 2015 in Lufkin. She worked as a Dispatcher at Trinity County Sheriff's Office for over years until her retirement. During her tenure, she worked for four sheriffs. She once was a member of OES Chapter #1035 in Groveton. Edith was very active within her family's lives. She loved to talk and visit with everyone. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
Mrs. Raiford is survived by her three children, daughter, Pam Howell and husband, Pat Howell, of Woodlake, son, John Raiford and wife, Kristen Raiford, of Groveton and daughter, Cindy Eastepp and husband, Donald Eastepp; two sisters, Mary Smith and Nina Powell; brother, Leslie Jones; grandchildren, Matt Howell, Mitch Howell, Tori Wars, Victoria Smith-Raiford, Dylan Raiford, Walter Raiford, Mason Raiford and Justin Eastepp; great grandchildren, Lynsey Howell, Lezlea Howell, Matthew Howell and Jackson Wars and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Walter Jim Raiford.
Pallbearers: Donnie Puckett, Richard Steptoe, Brent Phillips, Britt Gibson, Ronnie Dunahoe and Don LaRoe.
