Obituary

Doyce Ray Antley, 76, of Groveton went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 16, 2015 surrounded by his family at his home in the Possum Walk community. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Groveton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Groveton Funeral Home with pastors Lester McAdams and Lewis Jones officiating. He will be escorted to his final resting place in Bennett Cemetery by pallbearers, Kevin D. Stagg, Derick Mize, Bryan Truss, Steven Truss, Matt Taylor, Paul Ely, Dayton Cox, Rick Modisette and James Redd. Honorary pallbearers, William Truss, Billy Doyle, Reggie Olive, Bobby Davis, Louis Stagg, Larry Dunn, Brent West, Maudelle Bickett, Glenda Olive, and the Houston, Texas Police Department Police Officers.

Mr. Antley was born on March 10, 1938 in Groveton, Texas. He graduated from Groveton High School in 1955 and was inducted into the US Army September, 1956 and was discharged October, 1958. Shortly thereafter, he joined the City of Houston Police Academy Class number 28 on May 20, 1963. During his career, he served at the Central Division and the Northwest Division. He retired on January 25, 1991 and later moved back to his hometown of Groveton. Doyce loved life and being around people. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. He also had a love for music and it was his life. He enjoyed playing his musical instruments with his fellow band members and visiting with all of his friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Vernon Antley and Lena Wright Antley; sister, Delia Bea Antley; brother, Kenneth (Buddy) Antley; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mildred Tucker Modisette and Leon Ted Modisette and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mae Poe Tucker and Isaac Jacob Tucker.

Doyce leaves behind his wife, Kathleen Tucker Antley; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Antley Truss and Willaim Truss; sister-in-law, Louise Antley; daughter, Joyce Stagg; sons and their wives, Eddy and Connie Fenley Redd, Jimmy Earl Redd and Christi Scruggs Redd; grandchildren, Kristian Stagg Taylor and Matt Taylor, Kevin Stagg, Pamela Stagg Welsh and Dave Welsh, Jamie Redd, James Redd, Angela Redd, Derick and Lacy Mize, Kelly and Christina Kaemmerling, Cari Roy, Cal and Karen Kaemmerling, and 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Pinecrest Retirement Center, Heart to Heart Hospice, Wright Home Health, MD Anderson, and his special physicians, Dr. Scott Kopetz, PA Ryan, Dr. Paul Brown and Connie Jacobs.
