On Saturday, July 13, 2013 Doris Allen, 87 entered Heaven's Gate and into the arms of her Heavenly Father. Doris was born in Groveton, Texas on November 23,1925 and passed away in Lufkin, Texas.She graduated from Groveton High School in 1943 and was a lifetime member of the Groveton First Baptist Church.
She was a loving mother and homemaker first, then a hairstylist for over 40 years. She lived in Lufkin for the last 13 years with her devoted husband and constant caregiver, Arthur Lee Allen.
She is preceded in death by her parents May and Clyde Dominy, one brother Hubert Dominy, one sister Ruby Haswell and husbands Sonny Wilson and Ed Baker.
She leaves behind her loving husband Arthur Lee Allen, two daughters Carla Phipps of Lufkin and Lyndell Lockart and husband Harry of Conroe; one grandson Kerry Lochart and wife Christelle, of Montgomery texas; two great grandchildren, one sister Kitty Spain of Pasadena, Texas. Also left behind are 3 step Daughters Sara Lehman and her daughter, Kristin of California, Tami Witzell of Hico, Texas and Dee Wilmoth of Dayton, Texas. Last but not least her huge orange Tabby cat "Rambo".
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the Groveton Funeral Home Cartwright Memorial Chapel with Bro Lewis Jones and Bro Lonnie Valance officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery.
