Dona Catherine Griswold Smith was born March 7, 1953 in Galena Park, TX. to Daniel E. Griswold and Rachel R. Griswold . God called Dona  home on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at the age of 67.

From a young age, she fell in love with music and education. So, she devoted her higher educational studies and her whole professional career  to it. She was a proud graduate of Sam Houston State University, where she received her bachelor's degree. She then continued her education by graduating with her master's degree from the University of Houston. She worked at multiple school districts, including Groveton's Independent School (GISD) where she retired from. During her tenure at GISD, she taught choir and was a teacher of special education.

Her biggest joy in life was being a mother to her three son's who she referred to as the "boy's". Regardless of the mayhem her son"s created , she loved them ,and this was self-evident.

On November 6,1989, she married Buddy Smith Jr. and they were happily married for 18 years. Dona is preceded in death by parents Daniel and Rachel Griswold, husband Buddy Smith Jr.

Dona is survived by her sons: Daniel L. Sherrouse, and wife, Jillian Sherrous,Buddy Smith III, and wife Sarah B Smith, Dennis J Smith, and wife, Andrea Smith. Grandson Noah Sherrouse.
