David Michael Caddenhead was born on December 28, 1970, in Lufkin, Texas, to Donna Martin Caddenhead and Billy Frank Caddenhead. He passed away unexpectedly on June 20, 2025, in Livingston, Texas, at the age of 54.
David's life, though tragically cut short, was marked by his deep love for his family and the countless lives he touched along the way. He was known for his passion for the outdoors and could most often be found on a boat, pier, or beach with a fishing rod in hand. But above all, his greatest love was for his wife, Fern. High school sweethearts, David and Fern built a beautiful life together, raising a family grounded in love, laughter, and shared adventure.
He found tremendous joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren, and even greater fulfillment in teaching his grandkids, nieces, or nephews how to shoot a rifle or cast a line—lessons passed down with patience and pride.
David is preceded in death by his father, Billy Frank Caddenhead; and his brother, Richard William Caddenhead.
He is survived by his loving wife, Fern Caddenhead; his children: Colby Lilley and husband, Douglas, Stormy Wars and husband, Donnis, Brent Caddenhead and fiancée, Gracie May, and Delaney Caddenhead and fiancée, Landon Mattatall; grandchildren: Rilynn Lilley, Parker Lilley, Walker Lilley, Lucas Wars, Logan Wars, Lizzie Wars, and Brance Mattatall; his mother, Donna Caddenhead; brother, Gregory Martin Caddenhead and wife, Terri; sister, Penny Thornton and husband, Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other beloved relatives and friends.
The family will receive visitors beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Groveton Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Groveton Funeral Home, with Pastor Johnny Riley officiating. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Groveton, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Josh Nobles, Greg Caddenhead, Brent Caddenhead, Brody Thornton, Braden Caddenhead, and Bradley Caddenhead.
Honorary Pallbearers are Blaize Caddenhead, Neil White, and Donnis Wars.
