Visitation for Danny "Lightning" Earl Westerfield, age 68 of Groveton, TX will begin Sunday, August 6, 2023, at 1:00 p.m.- 2:00 p,m. in Groveton Funeral Home Chapel in Groveton, TX.
Danny Earl Westerfield was born November 26, 1954, in Wichita, KS to Hubert Earl Westerfield and Martha Evelyn Nash Westerfield and returned to his heavenly home Thursday, August 3, 2023, in Lufkin, TX.
Lightning was married to his best friend, Karen Loesch on June 24, 1983, in Groveton, TX where they also resided and raised their family. He attended Pennington Baptist Church with his family and afterwards he enjoyed spending time with them, especially taking them out on side by side "buggy" rides. He loved driving trucks, hunting, fishing, and horseback riding. In his youth, he even enjoyed bull riding. He was a hard worker and lived for traveling in those big trucks. Also, he enjoyed helping with the Trinity County Sherriff's Posse Association during their tenure.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Martha Westerfield; sister, Rhonda Westerfield; and brother, James McCollum.
Danny is survived by his loving wife, Karen Westerfield; son, Danny Westerfield, Jr. and wife, Bridgett; son, Kevin Westerfield; grandchildren: Mason and Charleigh; sister, Cindy Armstrong and husband, James; brother, Neil Westerfield and wife, Sheila; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
