Cynthia "Cindy" Diana Smith Gonzalez, age 49, of Groveton, Texas, passed away tragically on February 5, 2026, in Groveton after an automotive accident. Cindy was born on September 29, 1976, in Lufkin, Texas, to Earl Samuel Smith and Norma Jean Walters Smith. She was a lifelong resident of Groveton and a cherished part of the Trinity County community.
Cindy graduated from Groveton High School in 1995 and was a proud member of the First Baptist Church of Groveton. Her faith and love for others showed in everything she did, especially in how she cared for children. She had a gift for teaching little ones the song "Jesus Loves Me" in sign language, and she dedicated many Wednesday nights helping to feed the children at church. Cindy's gentle nature and kind heart made everyone feel loved, welcomed, and seen.
More than anything, Cindy loved being a mother. Her children were her world, and she took boundless joy and pride at every moment she shared with them. Her love, laughter, and devotion filled their lives with warmth and guidance that will live on in their hearts forever.
Cindy was preceded in death by her sister, Deborah Ann Smith, and her father, Earl Samuel Smith, both of Groveton.
She is lovingly survived by her children: Joseph Cordell Rapoza and wife, Chelsea Rapoza, of Maple Valley, Washington; Victor Rafael Samuel Gonzalez of Groveton, Texas; Ramiro Xeviur Gonzalez of Groveton, Texas; Aurora Luminosa Gonzalez of Groveton, Texas.
She is also survived by her devoted mother, Norma Jean Walters Smith, of Groveton; her sister, April Balette and husband, Mark Balette, of Groveton; along with many treasured family members, church family, and countless friends who will miss her deeply.
The family invites friends and loved ones to a time of visitation and celebration of Cindy's life on Sunday, February 15, 2026, beginning at 1:00 PM until the service time at 2:00 PM at Groveton Funeral Home, with Bro. Matt Sharrock officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
