There was an empty room in God's mansion and he dispatched an angel to Groveton, Texas on February 4th 2023 and told Clay that his mansion was ready and it was time to come home. He was born on March 26,1967 to Ruth Lewis and Redell Hadnot. He accepted Christ at an early age at New Hope Missionary Baptist. Church. He was baptized by the late Rev. V.L. Johnson in Lacy Texas. He was a graduate of Groveton ISD. He was an athlete and played football. He graduated in the year of 1986. After he graduated he worked and enjoyed what he did on his job. He was an all around man and loved to work with his hands. He was a mechanic, a leather craftsman, and any other odd jobs. His last job was in the medical field where he transported patients until his demise. Claytress loved his family and was our little jokester. He kept everyone laughing. Never a day went by without us hearing a joke from past or present, whether it was the truth or stretching the truth. He lived his life like there was no tomorrow. On January 22, 2023, he re-dedicated his life at Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and told the family how much he loved them everyday. Everyday he talked about the Lord as if he knew his time was up. The love of his life was his son Jaclaytress (Binky) who changed his life like no other. He loved his son. Clay will always be remembered by his family and friends. He had an unique smile and always helped people. He strive to do better and was a person who learned to be content inspite of all the obstacles in his path.
He is preceeded by his mother: Ruth Evelyn Nicholson, father: Redell Hadnot, Great Grandparents: Holbert and Ethel Carr, Grandparents: Tommie and Elsie Thomas, uncle: Freddie Kirk, aunts: Nola Kirk and Laura Edebe.
To cherish his memories: son: JaClaytress Lewis, companion: Johnnie Nikki Monroe, daughter JaZyrriaha Monroe, son JaMichael Monroe, godson:Tafari Mims,
Uncles and aunts: Shirley Williams, Jerry Thomas(Adarine), Archie(Janice), Maxie Banks, Autrey Smith, Ethelrene Smith (Danny), Barbara Gary (Herbert). Special cousins, Ella Derry, Rena Thomas, Alvin Thomas, Aubrey Thomas, Benson Smith and Lowry Banks. He had many cousins and special friends who loved him like a brother.
