Charles "Buddy"
William Whitten, Sr.
May 10, 1944 — Apr 6, 2023
Porter
Charles (Buddy) William Whitten Sr., 78, was born on May 10, 1944. He joined our Heavenly Father on
April 6, 2023, where he passed away peacefully at his son's home in Porter, Texas. Buddy was born
in Trinity, Texas, and attended elementary and junior high school in Livingston, Texas. He
married his childhood sweetheart, Marabeth Seymour Whitten, on August 21, 1960, and raised 6 children. He leaves a legacy of 13 grandchildren, 18 great‐grandchildren, and 5 great‐great‐grandchildren. Buddy was known for his beautiful carpentry. He built many rocking horses and rocking chairs for his grandbabies, cedar hope chests, and so much more. Buddy also had a love for gardening. He produced the biggest and the most delicious red, orange, and yellow watermelons. Buddy especially enjoyed gardening when his grandbabies were younger and helped him.
With broken, but grateful hearts, he has gone to be with Jesus. Buddy is preceded in death by his late
wife Marabeth Seymour Whitten, his parents, siblings, his daughter Irene, and countless family and
friends that have gone before him.
Buddy is survived by his children Linda Ewing (Eddie) of Hutchins, Texas, Charles Whitten (Elizabeth) of
Porter, Texas, Judy Rollins (Terry) of Shephard, Texas, Bobby Whitten (Unmi) of Plano Texas, and Diana
Tullos (Rodger) of Rochester, New Hampshire; grandchildren Kathy Malena (Jason), Jennifer Krnavek
(Shay), Doug Malena (Haley), Shey Harrison, Charles Whitten III (Keirsten), Ricky Wilson, Chris Wilson
(Amy), Robert Wilson, Janice Higgins (Michael), Ashley Whitten, Bianca Whitten, Curtis Anders (Chelsea),
and Travis Anders (Brittany); great‐grandchildren Ryan Saldana (Fernanda), Lauren Warren (Steven),

Layla Whitten, and baby Charlie; great‐great grandchildren Mason Miranda, Kayden Warren, McKinlee
Warren, Maddyn Warren, and Maddox Warren.
It was Buddy's decision that the family privately celebrate his new life in Heaven and not mourn his
death. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your favorite charity.
