Obituary

Cecil Wayne King of Groveton, Texas, was born on July 27, 1940, in the Magee Bend Community of Groveton, Texas to Cecil Jasper King and Florence (Norsworthy) King and passed away to his eternal home on November 4, 2021, at the age of 81 years in Groveton, Texas.
Mr. King is survived by his children: son, Shannon King; son, Tony King and wife, Darlene; daughter, Deana Berry; daughter, Sandra Howard and husband, Tad; daughter, Sharon McKinney and husband, Charlie; grandchildren: Ben O'Neill, Brittania Thomison, Jasper King, Hunter Earles King, Conner King, Toni Galvan King, Laura King, John King, Daniel Antley, Amanda Antley Oliva, Gideon Heggy, Jackson Steinke, Gabrielle, Molly, Austin, and Brannon McKinney; multiple great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends also, survive.
Cecil is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Florence King; wife, Minnie King; infant daughters: Susan and Stacey King; and sister: Dimple Rogers.
Cecil grew up in the Magee Bend community of Groveton, Texas. He worked as a young boy at the sawmill for numerous years. He also, worked in the fields pulling corn with his father. Cecil was a hard worker. He held jobs of all kinds even working in the local cotton gin around the age of 15. After graduation from Groveton High School in 1958, Cecil worked at the local Ford Company as a mechanic. In his later years, he worked in the logging industry for LP until his retirement. Cecil enjoyed hunting, telling stories about growing up and reminiscing of his childhood. He loved to tell stories about trapping racoons and minks and selling the hides. He was always full of adventure. Cecil attended Oaklawn Baptist Church in his youth and was baptized in Arthur Kennedy's Pond. He also enjoyed in his youth using "bricks" for cars and building bird traps. Cecil was always full of stories, and he loved visiting with people.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to 1st Choice Hospice of Huntsville, Texas.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, November 14, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Glenwood Cemetery with Bro. Bueford Rogers officiating.
