Obituary for Casey John Pritchett
November 19, 1972 – November 28, 2025
With great sadness and deep love, the family of Casey John Pritchett announces his unexpected passing on November 28, 2025, at his home in Groveton, Texas. Casey was born on November 19, 1972, in Dallas, Texas, to Jimmy Glen Pritchett and Sheila Gay Fagan, and from the very beginning, he carried a curious mind, a fiercely independent spirit, and a heart full of quiet tenderness.
Casey was a man of vast knowledge. To many, he may have seemed hard to get to know, but those who took the time to sit and talk with him discovered a thoughtful, intelligent, and deeply loyal soul. He loved history, often losing himself in stories of the past. He had a passion for music, a love for his Dallas sports teams, and he enjoyed the strategy and challenge of a good game of chess. He found joy in reading—particularly the novels of Stephen King—where his imagination could roam freely. And anyone who spent enough time with him knew he had a soft spot for a good dad joke—usually delivered with a straight face, followed by a grin when he got the reaction he was waiting for.
He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and grandfather. Casey especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable happiness. A defining moment of his life was the day he married the love of his life, Leanna Jo Miller, on February 14, 2004, at his mother's home in Groveton. Their love was genuine, steady, and lasting.
Casey is preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Glen Pritchett; daughter, Kimberly; maternal grandparents, Faye and Bill Fagan; paternal grandparents, Josephine and John L. Pritchett; and his aunt, Linda Good.
He is survived by his loving wife, Leanna Pritchett of Groveton, Texas; children: daughter, Tiffany; son, Terry; daughter, Cassie; and son, John; his mother, Sheila Fagan; grandchildren: Jayce, Jaxon, Preslee, Hudson, and Greyston; sister, Teresa Staggs; nieces: Gannon and Ashlyn; along with a host of extended family members and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM at Groveton Funeral Home.
Though Casey's passing leaves a tremendous void, his memory will be cherished always. His wisdom, his humor, his love for learning, and his devotion to family will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved him. His story lives on in the lives he touched.
