Obituary

In Loving Memory of Carolyn Thomas May
On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, Carolyn Thomas May, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 83.
Born on August 30, 1941, in Rusk, Texas, to Aubrey and Opal Thomas, Carolyn was the eldest of four children. In 1946, the family moved to Kermit, Texas, where her father, Aubrey, established his optometry practice. Carolyn graduated from Kermit High School and soon after married the love of her life, James May. In 1970, she and her family relocated from Odessa, Texas, to Beaumont, Texas, where she built a life full of love and devotion to her family and community.
Carolyn enjoyed a fulfilling career at Texas State Optical (TSO), where she worked for over 20 years before retiring in 2003. She was a dedicated member of Trinity Methodist Church, where she found joy and fellowship. Her passions included gardening—a hobby that brought her serenity and beauty—and spending quality time with her beloved grandchildren, whom she adored.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey and Opal Thomas; her husband of 53 years, James May; and her youngest son, Tommy May. She is survived by her siblings: her sister, Dianne, and brother-in-law, Joe Marlett Jr., of Sweetwater, TX; her brother, John, and sister-in-law, Carol Thomas, of Kingwood, TX; and her sister, Elaine Reynolds, of Midland, TX. Carolyn is also survived by her daughter, Robbie, and son-in-law, Tom Bohmier, of Grapevine, TX; her son, David, and daughter-in-law, Michele May, of Beaumont, TX; and her daughter-in-law, Krissie May, of Winnie, TX. She was a proud grandmother to seven wonderful grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.
Carolyn's kindness, strength, and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.
