Brenda Joy Cathey, age 63, of the Possum Walk Community of Groveton, Texas, completed her earthly journey and went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 9, 2014 in Lufkin, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM on Monday, May 12, 2014 at Groveton Funeral Home, Groveton, Texas. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of the Groveton Funeral Home with Bro. Lewis Jones officiating. Interment will follow in East Prairie "Possum Walk" Cemetery. She will be escorted to her final resting place by her pallbearers, Bryan Aguilar, Allen Aguilar, Ignacio Avitia, Dunaven Newingham, Jeremy Townsend, Ryan Cathey and Ethan Cathey.

She was born on December 22, 1950 in Groveton, Texas, to her parents, Pete Willis and Seba (Horn) Oliver. Brenda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, Aunt and friend. She was employed and retired from the Trinity County Courthouse System. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, telling jokes and going fishing.

Brenda is preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Rusty and Gerald Willis and a sister, Kathy Willis-Ringo. Her survivors include her husband, Ronald Cathey, of Groveton, Texas; three sons, Casey Russell, of Slidell, Louisiana, Michael Russell and Christopher Russell, both, of Baytown, Texas; daughter, Stacey Ellis, of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren, Blake Russell, Natalie Russell and Emily Russell; sister, Marsha Patterson, of Angelton, Texas; brother, Mark Willis, of Groveton, Texas; mother, Seba Oliver, of Groveton, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends, also survive.
