Billy Bob Holmes, Sr., age 81, of Pennington, Texas was born August 16, 1932 in Pennington, Texas to his parents, James Henry and Anna Lee (Reynolds) Holmes. He was a self-employed truck driver for many years until retirement. Billy passed away on December 22, 2013 in Lufkin, Texas. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Leslie Lynn Holmes; brothers, Malcolm, Winston and Melvin Holmes. His survivors include his wife, Mary Dee Holmes; son, Billy Bob Holmes, Jr.; son, Galen Wade Holmes; daughter, Deidra Ann Holmes; brother, Crit Holmes; sister, Margie Nell Wheeler; sister, Martha Jane Reagan; brother, James Lewis Holmes; sister, Linda Lou Miller; sister-in-law, Ola Mae Lowery; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also survive.

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Monday, December 23, 2013 at Groveton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of the Groveton Funeral Home with Rev. Bud Magee officiating. Burial will follow in Pennington Cemetery and he will be escorted to his final resting place by his pallbearers, William Holmes, Tristan Templeman, Russell Holmes, Ben Gardner, Dwayne Miller and Troy Antley.
