Betty Jean Pruitt was born in Groveton, Texas on March 28, 1933 the daughter of the late Archie Norman Pruitt and Thelma Mae Collins Pruitt. She passed away on October 25, 2018 in Lufkin, Texas at the age of 85 years.
Betty graduated from High School and later met the love of her life, Leon Edman Eaves, Sr. and they were married in 1952. She and her family resided in the Groveton-Centerville-Apple Springs area. She was an extremely hard worker and loved to live life to the fullest. She loved her family and she especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up. She was an avid seamstress. She loved to crochet and knit for her family. She also enjoyed being outdoors with her husband and raising their gardens. They had some of the best vegetables and flowers known in the area. She also loved to cook and was known for many of her dishes because she had fed a many of people. Mrs. Eaves also was known for taking a long stroll out and observing all that mother nature had to offer.
Betty is survived by her loving children: daughter, Bobbie Eaves Cleaver and husband, Raymond of Groveton, Texas; son, Leon Edman Eaves, Jr. "Eddie" of Apple Springs, Texas; son, Joe Lynn Eaves of Hudson, Texas; daughter, Doris Ann Eaves of Apple Springs, Texas; sister, Maudie Mae Pruitt McLaughlin of Pennington, Texas; seven grandchildren, Rodney Paul Cleaver, Jeana Leann Cleaver, Amanda Denise McAdams Beggs, Stacey Dianne McAdams King, Alyssa Darlyne McAdams Anthony, Michael Dewayne Eaves, Anthony Scott Eaves, Jodie Finke and Madison Jeffereys; sixteen great-grandchildren, Katie Cleaver, Victoria Smith, Kayla Houston, McKenzie McAdams, Kristin, Carter, Mackenzie, and Esme Anthony, Nolan, Cole, Andrew, Benjamin, and Lucas Beggs, Kaitlin, Jake, and Dani King; and a host of nieces, nephews and other beloved relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Edman Eaves, Sr.; her beloved parents, Archie and Thelma Pruitt; brother, Archie Norman Pruitt, Jr. and sister, Gloria Sue Pruitt Carpenter.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 29, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. graveside in Bennett Cemetery in Apple Springs, Texas with Bro. Lester McAdams officiating. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday until 7:00 p.m. at Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, Texas.
