Betty Lou Hill Davis was born on May 29, 1935, in the Creacy Community of Trinity County, Texas, to Tom and Winnie Clark Hill. She passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025, in New Caney, Texas, at the age of ninety.
Betty lived a life of faith, love, and devotion to her family. She enjoyed working outdoors, whether tending her garden or mowing her lawn, and she found joy in the simple beauty of nature. She loved the Lord and was steadfast in her Christian faith, living each day guided by prayer and her belief in God.
Talented with her hands, Betty was especially skilled in needlework, spending many hours sewing and crocheting treasured pieces for her family and friends. She will be remembered for her kind heart, her quiet strength, and the warmth she brought to everyone who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Winnie Hill; her husband, James "Jimmy" Mading Davis; her sister, Willie Lee Barr; and her stepdaughter, Suzanne Greenwood.
Betty is survived by her husband, Lawrence Clifford Minshew; her daughter, Kimberly Davis Thompson and husband, Charles D. "Doug" Thompson; grandchildren, Will Thompson, John Thompson, Kyle Thompson and wife, Sydney, and Alina Thompson; great-grandchildren, Carson, Lily, and Lucas; stepsons, Tim Minshew and wife, Donna, and Steve Minshew; along with numerous other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Services
The family will receive visitors beginning at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Groveton Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, with Bro. Matt Sharrock officiating. Interment will take place at Bennett Cemetery.
