Visitation for Bertie Marie Best, 78 of Apple Springs will begin at 6:00 p.m., Friday, April 22nd, 2016 in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 23rd, 2016 with Brother Lewis Jones officiating and burial will follow in Bennett Cemetery in Apple Springs.
Marie was born on March 16th, 1938 in Rusk County, Texas to Bertie R. Clark and Banner Marie (Curbo) Clark. God called Mrs. Best home on Tuesday, April 19th, 2016 in Lufkin, Texas.
Marie loved her family and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. One of her many special moments was being able to go to her children's home and help them to attend to their children's needs. She thoroughly enjoyed being able to go and watch all of her grandchildren's activities whether it be basketball, baseball or going to watch gymnastics. She also loved her new dog named Dolly. She was very dedicated to Eastern Star to which she was a member of Groveton OES #1035. She also enjoyed going camping and doing some fishing at Sam Rayburn Lake. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also a member of Apple Springs Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bertie R. Clark and Banner Marie Clark; her husband, Lloyd Neil Best and a son, Warren Grant Best.
Marie is survived by her son, Roger Winslow Best and wife, Amy of Houston and grandchildren, Austin, Tyler and Katie Best of Houston; and a host of other relatives and numerous friends.
