Ava Calvin was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on March 21, 2022, surrounded by family, at the age of 70.

She was born November 26, 1951, in Livingston, Texas, to the late Bennie Ruth Gordon Douglas and Herman Starghill. After graduating from Groveton High School, Ava was united in holy matrimony to Robert Calvin who preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her stepfather Joe Douglas and her brother James "Sonny" Jackson.

She leaves to cherish loving memories to her three children Christopher Calvin (Lynette), Laquency Horace (Patrick), and Natasha Garrett (Anthony); four brothers, Johnny Gordon Sr. (Mary), Michael Gordon Sr. (Carolyn), Joe Douglas III (Don Yevette), and Hayward Calvin; seven sisters, Carolyn Westbrooks, Edna Jean, Joan Price (Earl), Myra Garrett, Amy Stewart (Eric), Bennie Ruth Jackson and Patricia Simon (Wilfred); thirteen grandchildren, Crystal, JaMichael, Shi'Kristen, Jasmine, Patrick Jr., Jordan, Peydon, Ashleigh, Tavian, Anterrio, Monique, Aja, and Anthony Jr.; seven great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will welcome visitors beginning at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 26, 2022 until celebration of life services begin at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Groveton, Texas with pastor Gary Brown officiating.  Burial will follow services in Josserand Cemetery in Groveton, Texas.  The family will have a reception after the burial services at First Baptist Church of Groveton in the fellowship hall.

Mrs. Calvin will be escorted to her final resting place in Josserand Cemetery by pallbearers:  Patrick Simon, Johnny Gordon, Jr., Michael Gordon, Jr., Roderick Gordon, Matthew Douglas, and Douglas Stewart.
