Angelia Carnes Evans, 64, of Groveton, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, at her home, leaving behind a legacy as bright and full of life as the woman herself. She was born on July 19, 1961, in Cleveland, Texas, to Jack Carnes and Mary Murry.

Angelia lived her life with intention, grace, and an unmistakable zest that touched everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. From her earliest days in Groveton, she distinguished herself as someone extraordinary. She graduated from Groveton High School with the Class of 1979, earning the distinction of Valedictorian — a testament to her sharp and determined mind — while also cheering on her classmates from the sidelines as a cheerleader, embodying the rare combination of brilliance and heart.

Her life of service extended well beyond those school days. She gave her time and dedication to the American Cancer Society, championing a cause close to so many, and she served her community with distinction as the Municipal Judge for the City of Groveton — a role that reflected the deep trust and respect her neighbors placed in her.

When she wasn't serving others, Angelia was savoring life's simple pleasures. She could lose herself in a good book for hours, and the opening chords of a Classic Rock song were all it took to put a smile on her face and get her on her feet. She loved to dance, to travel, and above all, to gather with the family and friends who meant the world to her. She filled every room she entered with warmth, laughter, and an energy that was entirely and wonderfully her own.

She was a woman who led with love — and the world is a richer place for every year she graced it.

Angelia is preceded in death by her father, Barney "Jack" Carnes, and her beloved sister, Mary Kay Blake.

She is survived by her daughter, Lauren Mason and husband Donald of Midlothian, Texas; her grandchildren, Wade Welch, Cole Mason, and Landon Mason, all of Midlothian, Texas; her mother, Mary Murry of Trinity, Texas; her brothers, Grady Blake of Trinity, Texas and Richard Carnes and wife Tracy of Arlington, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends who will carry her spirit forward with enduring love.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026, beginning at 11:00 A.M. in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home with Richard Carnes officiating.
